Abstract: After compared several kinds of mix proportion calculation methods of self-compacting high performance concrete (SCHPC) in general use in China, a new method named 'semi-empirical and semi-calculation method' which is based on the overall calculation method and empirical data is introduced in this paper. The concept of dry mortar surplus coefficient is presented for the first time, and the volume ratio of paste-aggregate is properly added in this method. The results indicate that the proposed method could well satisfy the requirements of SCHPC. Compared with the other methods mentioned in this paper, the semi-empirical and semi-calculation method (SSM) is simpler, easier for implementation and acquires a more suitable ratio of fine aggregates to total aggregates and content of cementitious materials.
