Abstract: Test methods for self-compacting concrete (SCC) were investigated in the European project 'Testing SCC'. The focus of this project was on tests methods for the key characteristics of SCC in the fresh state, which are filling ability, passing ability and segregation resistance. Test methods for filling ability were investigated in workpackage 3.1. The test methods under investigation were: slump flow, T50, T60, V-funnel, Orimet and L-Box. This article presents results and important conclusions from this workpackage; the experiments were carried out at the Delft University of Technology and by Betongindustri. It describes the effect of the preparation and the execution of the test on the response, acceptance ranges, the sensitivity as well as advantages and disadvantages of test methods for filling ability.
