Abstract: Unpurified silicon powder is widely used in photovoltaic industry as the production of polycrystalline silicon powders’ raw materials. Considering to the downturn of market demand and excess capacity, unpurified silicon powder could applies to the construction industry. In the present study, zeta potential was used to evaluation the interaction between two types of superplasticizers (FDN, PCE) and cementitious materials to understand the effect of unpurified silicon to fresh concrete. The results show that cement-superplasticizers compatibility was varied by the chemical (surface charge) characteristics of the unpurified silicon powders studied. The pastes with the FDN based superplasticizers act better dispersion when compare with the PCE based.
