Abstract: Time-dependent deformation of mortar and concrete with differential sizes aggregates were determined with 3D digital image correlation (3D-DIC). Local strain and crack in concrete were analyzed. The results show that 3D-DIC make it possible to measure full-field non-uniform internal displacement/strain initiated by shrinkage. Before 1 day both the displacement and non-uniform strain increased with time. While local displacement become discontinuous and expansive strain was observed when strain arrive a certain value where a crack was found. Coarse aggregates exhibit the excellent ability to block the local deformation. But have little influence on total deformation of samples. After 3 days some Cracks were found close to aggregate. Most of them were vertical to aggregate.
