Abstract: The passivation capability and corrosion resistance of two types of reinforcing steels (00Cr10MoV steel and low-carbon steel) in alkali-activated slag (AAS) extract in the presence of chlorides were investigated using various electrochemical techniques (opencircuit potential, linear polarization resistance and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) and SEM. The results show that, 00Cr10MoV steel exhibited slightly better passivation capability compared to low-carbon steel after exposure to chloride-free AAS extract for 10 days. However, the corrosion resistance of 00Cr10MoV steel was significantly higher than low-carbon steel in chloride-contaminated AAS extract.
