Abstract: The cement paste specimens incorporated 2% substitution of cement by diatomite were prepared. Varying particle sizes of the diatomite were determined by sieving process and changing ball-milling time. The results show that, smaller particle size of the diatomite leads to higher later strength of the cement paste specimens. The porosity of the diatomite blended specimen curing for 7days was lower than the control simple. With the decrease of diatomite particle size, the porosity of simple decreased and the quantity of harmless holes of the sample
decreased as well as the less holes.
