Abstract: This paper focuses on the numerical simulation of flexural and shear behaviour of 5.25m span π-beams using R-UHPFRC (UHPFRC reinforced with steel rebars) through a finite element software (ATENA). These precast beams will be used for the replacement of a short span railway bridge (underpass). The FE model was calibrated and validated by fitting previous test data from bending and shear tests on two full-scale π-beams. Close agreement between numerical and experimental results was obtained after modification of numerical and material parameters in terms of force-deflection response, ultimate resistance and crack patterns of both beams. With regard to the shear resistance of the R-UHPFRC beam, the predictions from three standards (AFGC, JSCE and SIA) on the design of UHPFRC structures were compared with the experimental result suggesting that the Swiss Standard SIA 2052 provides good estimate.
