Abstract: An important measure of sustainability is the reuse of industrial waste and by-products.
Through this study, 3 types of industrial by-products (Biomass Bottom Ash, Stainless Steel
Slag and Phosphogypsum) generated and accumulated in large quantities were analysed.

This study evaluates the cementation and pozzolanic reaction characteristics of these by-
products to evaluate its strength activity index and its environmental impact. The raw

materials used for mortars cement manufacturing (Natural sand, cement and natural gypsum)

were replaced with different percentages substitution of untreated by-products and by-
products which were processed through simple treatments to determine the optimum

replacement ratio according to its mechanical properties.
The results showed significant improvements in the mechanical and durability properties of
mortars manufactured with these types of by-products as a supplementary cementing material,
thus allowing optimization of the use of this type of waste in the manufacture of mortars and
concretes and the use reduction of raw materials.
