Abstract: Experimental investigation was conducted to characterize the responses of High
Performance Concrete (HPC) when subjected to uni-axial and biaxial stress. A large number
of stress ratios were investigated for compression-tension, tension-tension tests. One kind of
HPC (fc=56.36MPa) was examined with cubic specimens size of 100mm in the test. The
specimens were loaded with a servo-hydraulic jack at different stress ratios. The principle
stresses and strains of the specimens were recorded, and the failure modes with various stress
states were examined. The experimental results indicated that the stress states and stress ratios
had significant influence on the biaxial strength and deformation under compression-tension
states, but no obvious effect on the strength and deformation under biaxial tension-tension.
The test results provided a valuable reference for obtaining multi-axial constitutive law of
HPC.
