Abstract: This work reports on an experimental campaign aimed at analyzing the mechanical performance of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) produced with both industrial (I) and recycled (R) steel fibers (SFs), leading to the so-called hybrid-IRFRC (HIRFRC). Specifically, RSFs obtained from waste tires are considered. Six concrete mixtures with different amount of RFSs and ISF s were prepared and tested both in compression and bending. The obtained results confirm the promising application of concrete reinforced with RSFs (namely, RSFRC). Moreover, they clearly demonstrate that ISFs can be replaced by RSFs without a significant decay in the relevant mechanical properties. This study, carried out at the STRuctural ENGineering Testing Hall (STR.ENG.T.H) of the University of Salerno, is part of the “SUPERCONCRETE” Project, funded by the European Union within the horizon 2020 programme (H2020-MSCA-RISE-2014 – n. 645704).
