Abstract: This work deals with the long-term performance of concrete structures in a marine environment. Chloride profiles obtained from over 30 building elements of several German marine structures, in a wide range of ages from 25 to 55 years, and results of a long-term exposure test have been compiled. The validity of the measured chloride contents is discussed. The actual performance deduced from the experimental results is compared with a common chloride penetration model. The impact of binder type, chloride surface concentration and exposure conditions are considered and discussed.
