Abstract: There are some drawbacks existing in alkali-activated slag (AAS), such as high drying shrinkage and carbonation. These drawbacks are closely connected with the microstructure of AAS. In this paper, a study has been conducted to investigate the effects of nano material on the microstructure of alkali-activated slag paste(AASP). The investigation showed that the early hydration products of AAS became denser by adding 0.5% (in weight) rutile nano-TiO2 while the types of hydration products had little change. And the Ca/Si and Ca/Al ratios of AASP with rutile nano-TiO2 decreased comparing to the reference AASP at the same age. 0.5% rutile nano-TiO2 has effects on the microstructure of AAS.
