Abstract: Experimental investigations were carried out to study the cyclic behaviour of concrete
confined with carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP). The test variables consider for the
present investigations are concrete grade (M25 and M50), influence of loading (monotonic
and cyclic) and the amount of CFRP (one and two layers). The test results showed that,
CFRP-confined concrete specimens show higher strength, ductility, and energy absorption
capacity as compared to the unconfined concrete. The effect of cyclic loading on CFRP
confined concrete indicates increase in ductility for M25 grade than for M50 grade concrete.
In the case of energy absorption capacity concrete strength is not an influencing factor for
both the monotonic and cyclic loading cases.
