Abstract: Significant amounts of rice husk ash (RHA) are currently being generated annually as a byproduct of rice production. In this study, we used this waste product as a reactive filler to produce an eco-friendly ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC). This approach replaced inert quartz filler with the reactive RHA filler, with the intention of increasing the amorphous silica content in UHPC while maintaining the physical role of the micron-sized conventional filler. In addition, due to the porous structure of RHA, internal curing effect may be expected, which can promote the hydration reaction over a long period of time. Experimental results proves this approach as we confirmed outstanding mechanical strength of UHPC without heat treatment.
