Abstract: The functionally graded cementitious composite (FGCC) was prepared by stacking
different ultra high performance fiber reinforced concretes (UHPFRC) layers together. The
different layers of FGCC were made of ultra high performance hybrid fiber reinforced
concrete, ultra high performance steel fiber reinforced concrete and ultra high performance
coarse aggregate concrete respectively. The dynamic properties of FGCC targets subjected to
projectile penetration were investigated. The fracture patterns were observed for different
FGCC targets. The penetration depth, crater size and damage area of different targets were
measured. Results show that the penetration depth, crater diameter and damage area were
decreased by the reinforcement of high strength fibers and coarse aggregates. The cracking,
penetration and spalling of FGCC targets were reduced by the synergistic effects of the
different UHPFRC layers.
