Abstract: This study aims to further improve the mechanical properties of strain hardening ultra-high
performance concrete by hybrid steel/PE fibres system. Because of characteristic of concrete
cracking process, hybrid use among various kinds of fibres can increase the strength and
restrain the generation and development of cracks at different level. By this way, the final
compressive strength increase from 132.97MPa to 175.6MPa with a little decrease of tensile
strain from 6.01% to 5.11% when designed the total fibre content less than 2.5%. The effects
of hybrid steel/PE fibers on the first cracking strength, tensile strength, crack numbers and
average crack width were also discussed depending on the experimental results.
