Abstract: The unique features of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) in damage tolerance, energy
absorption, fatigue resistance and deformability are combined with a potential application in
the repair of the bridge expansion joint. Based on compressive strength test, flexural strength
test and shrinkage slab test under different hybrid mode of the fibers including steel fiber, PVA
fiber and polypropylene fiber, an improved UHPC with high strength, good crack resistance
ability and the curing at normal temperature is developed. The application of the Bijia mountain
bridge in Wuji highway shows the proposed UHPC using in the repair of the expansion joint
can quickly restore the traffic, improve the service life and lower the late operation cost. The
research achievement can be as a reference of the same bridge expansion joint maintenance.
