Abstract: Coir is a byproduct of the production of coconuts. In Europa it has been used for insulation purposes since nearly 100 years. This paper explains where this bio-based material comes from, what building products are being made from it nowadays and why it makes sense to use this resource more intensively in the future even in Europe.
