Abstract: The interaction of water vapour (i.e. humidity) with solid surfaces is important for the proper performance, storage, processing, and formulation of materials across numerous industries and applications. Wood products are usually exposed to humid air, and the changes in relative humidity and temperature are responsible for causing dimensional variation as well as mechanical stress. To assess the behaviour of wood in an environment where moisture is present, reliable data are needed to predict the behaviour of wood materials. This paper summarises several examples of using Dynamic Vapour Sorption (DVS) to study wood materials.
