Abstract: To solve the construction and quality problems of high strength concrete caused by high viscosity, the influence of ultrafine slag, coarse aggregate, water to cement ratio and air content on the plastic viscosity of concrete was studied by portable ICAR rheometer. The results show that the plastic viscosity of concrete decreased first and then increased with the
increase of the content of ultrafine slag powder, and the plastic viscosity of concrete with 40% ultrafine slag powder is the lowest. The increase of packing density was proved to be the important reasons for plastic viscosity reduction by wet packing method. Improve the aggregate morphology to reduce the friction angle of aggregate and improve the packing density could reduce the plastic viscosity of concrete significantly. Plastic viscosity of concrete could be reduced significantly by increasing the water to cement ratio and air content properly.
