Abstract: The lean concept has been employed in the construction industry to reduce time waste and increase productivity. Past research reveals that lean philosophy is applicable for increasing productivity in the prefabrication of reinforced concrete elements by lowering the inventory, reducing time waste, etc. This study focuses on the identification of non-value-adding activities involved in aprocess to prefabricate reinforced concrete elements. One of the lean tools, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) has been employed to visualize the value-adding process. A current state value stream map (CSVS-Map) has been developed and value stream analysis (VSA) has been performed. The most significant non-value-adding activities have been identified by performing Pareto analysis. The results of VSA and Pareto analysis have been presented. The results enable the development of a future state value stream map (FSVS-Map) and the improvement of an existing reinforced concrete prefabrication process
