Abstract: A section of an 80 year old concrete bridge, near the expansion joint had to be hydro-demolished to expose and mend the corroded reinforcement. Before placing the repair concrete, a sensor system comprising of electrical resistance and temperature sensors was installed close to the interface between the old and new concrete. Data from the sensor indicate that it is sensitive to the surrounding environment and overall the repair is in good state of health and improving. The analysis also identified a need to refine the Activation energy method for temperature compensation of resistance data.
