Abstract: This paper aims at identifying the effect of the substitution of natural aggregates by recycled aggregates on the early age development of the autogenous strain and the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) since setting. It is observed that the high porosity and the subsequent internal curing effect provided by recycled aggregate lead to a high decrease of the autogenous shrinkage and to the fact that the CTE magnitude can strongly increase (up to 50%) when natural aggregate is replaced by recycled aggregate.
