Abstract: The main purpose of this research work is to investigate the mechanical performance of hemp modified mortars. This study focuses on which formulation would entail the best compressive and flexural strengths, as well as the optimal adhesion of fibres and shives with the cementitious matrix. After deciding about the optimal formulation involving mixture of hemp fibres and shives, this latter is considered as a basis to investigate the effect of the milled fly ashes addition in hemp modified mortars. The mechanical strength of the multi-phase cementitious material is discussed with respect to reference mortar.
