Abstract: Temperature stress testing machine (TSTM) can evaluate the thermal and mechanical property of concrete under the effect of temperature and restraint. The elastic modulus (E), especially in early age, is a basic elastic parameter to measure the concrete property. However, the influence of restraint on E is not clear and the determination of E is difficult in Temperature stress testing (TST). A multi-TSTM system has been developed and the E of concrete under temperature effect of an ultra high concrete arch dam has been determined by the system. Together with some parallel tests, the traditional method and ultrasonic pulse velocity method are also conducted to measure the E for TST. The results show that the restraint has limited effect on E. Finally, the method for determining the E with TST is proposed.
