Abstract: The objective of this work is to investigate experimentally two deterioration mechanisms of concrete, frost-induced damage and salt crystallization in porous building materials. The damage of internal structure was analyzed for several types of mortar, with different content of the air-entraining admixture and the w/c ratio. The multi-cycle Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry was used to analyze the influence of both, i.e. Na2SO4 crystallization and frost induced-damage (after 0, 25, 50 and 100 freeze-thaw cycles), on the porous structure of mortars. In order to obtain the total porosity and pore size distribution caused by the material damage, two mercury intrusion-extrusion cycles were applied.
