Abstract: Slag is a major by-product of the steelmaking process. In this study, a facile method is investigated to prepare super-hydrophobic slag which increases the application value of slag. Optimum laboratory processing includes dry milling for 0.5 h with a 1 wt.% addition of stearic acid at 100 rpm speed which produced a super-hydrophobic powder with a water contact angle of 155.9°. The resulting coated and uncoated slag were fully characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR)
