Abstract:
In this paper, a unified approach to performance evaluation of an existing concrete structure is presented. Coupled analysis of mass transport and damage mechanics associated with steel corrosion is used to predict structural behavior from its birth to death. Multi-scale modeling of micro-pore formation and transport phenomena of moisture and ions are mutually linked for predicting the corrosion of reinforcement and volumetric changes. Input data necessary for the computational scheme were assumed by observation and a destructive method, and the identified information are given to the system. Primary trials reveal that the methodology unifying the numerical system and durability indicators is one of the promising technologies for performance based evaluation of existing structures.
