Abstract: This paper proposes a model to describe the chloride diffusion characteristics in recycled aggregate concrete (RAC). In this study, RAC is modeled in mesoscope as a five-phase composite material by considering the old and new interfacial transition zones (ITZs) as interphases, and the new mortar, old attached mortar and natural aggregate as continuous phases For the 9-aggregate RAC model and based on the finite element method (FEM) simulation, the replacement rate of recycled aggregate was used to study the chloride concentration variation in RAC model. It is concluded that the discrepancy between chloride diffusivities and combination method of different phases may remarkably influence the chloride diffusion behavior in RAC; the chloride concentration declines wavelike along the diffusion depth, the chloride concentration increase with the increase of RRA.
