Abstract: Durability of concrete composites has attracted serious attention as a result of deterioration of numerous structures all over the world. High performance concrete (HPC) appears to be better choice for a durable structure. Better performance of HPC composites is primarily due to the considerable improvement in the microstructure of its hydrated cementitious system, especially at the transition zone. This paper presents an overview on the durability aspects of HPC, issues relates to probable short comings of HPC in this respect as well as the directions of future research.
