Abstract: There is an extrusion molding process which is mainly utilized for manufacturing thin sheet products made of fiber reinforced cement material. Along with the conventional application of it to siding material of wall or roof in buildings, the new application of it to permanent form is under development, which is the main focus of this paper.
Ductile fiber reinforced cement composites material (DFRCC) which contains polypropylene fiber and reactive powder composites was extrusion molded and cured by autoclave. The manufactured ribbed sheets were applied to permanent form for casting concrete of guard wall and floor decks in many bridges in Japan.
The material properties that have especially favorable features derived from extrusion molding process and autoclave curing are mentioned in this paper. Also a design method of applying DFRCC to permanent form for casting concrete is explained. Observing this design method of permanent form, over 20 bridges were constructed employing permanent form which amounts to over 17,000m^2.
