Abstract: The bond strength and the stress-slip response of concrete specimen reinforced with polymer-impregnated rovings is investigated. The use of liquid epoxy systems results in a yarn failure at ca. 1200 N in the pull-out test, which is four times higher than that of the untreated one. The impregnation with novel cement-polymer composites leads to a reinforcement-matrix failure at ca. 750 N/mm2 and a drastically improved stress-slip response. Both observations are due to the activation of most of the filaments in contrast to the untreated roving.
