Abstract: The experimental investigations concentrate on columns under normal force loading, especially on the load introduction zone. To strengthen a column a textile reinforced concrete layer is circumferentially applied. The textile reinforcement will improve the working confinement favorably insomuch that the three-axial stress state inside the construction member improves and the load-bearing capacity under compressive stress increases. Further on, the new concrete layer can transmit a compressive stress which is an additional normal force of the ultimate loading capacity of the column. The anchoring of the strengthening layer has been guaranteed by a complete wrapping of the cross section. Results of separate bond-tests show the required length of the textiles to anchor their tensile force in the concrete.
