Abstract:
Strain Hardening Cement-based Composites (SHCC), is a class of High Performance Fibre Reinforced Cement Composites (HPFRCC), which has significant pseudo strain-hardening in tension. Extrusion may present a suitable manufacturing process for SHCC if the mix rheology is optimised and matrix-fibre properties are balanced through appropriate micromechanical considerations. This paper reports the results of mechanical testing of extruded SHCC containing polymeric fibres. Attention is given to fibre orientation and tensile mechanical properties such as E-modulus, first cracking strength and ductility. The properties are compared with those of cast SHCC of equivalent mix proportioning.
