Abstract:
Two damage mitigation techniques by using HPFRCC are introduced in this paper. The one is HPFRCC thin-board used as form. The damage properties of beams were tested in the cases with and without HPFRCC board. Because of the multiple cracking properties of HPFRCC board, no visible crack were observed before failure in shear. The shear crack width as well as flexural crack width can be successfully reduced.
The other technique is HPFRCC shear wall precast panel. The HPFRCC wall panel was casted at the precast plant by using the same mixer and methods as those in the case of production of RC precast wall panel. The nonstructural wall with openings made by HPFRCC showed little damage by 1/100 rad. in deflection angle. In the contrast, the RC non structural wall with the same configuration showed the severe damage with many large shear cracks. Since the strength of HPFRCC wall was not decrease by the 1/100 rad. the contribution of it to the seismic performance of the structure can be taken in the account as a structural elements.
