Abstract: This paper presents the more relevant activities of the RILEM TC-189 NEC (Non-destructive Evaluation of the Covercrete), which ran a comparative testing program aimed at evaluating the performance of different methods and instruments to measure, in a non-destructive manner, the quality and thickness of the concrete cover.
The results were then compiled and statistically analysed by the TC, according to a previously agreed methodology and will be presented in this paper in a detailed manner. The comparative test showed that there are non-destructive methods capable of assessing the "penetrability" and thickness of the concrete cover accurately and reliably.
