Abstract: Recent scientific literature extensively covers photocatalytic oxidations, and particularly the use of TiO2 as photocatalyst with sunlight. Which of the crystalline forms of TiO2, Anatase, Rutile or a mixture of the two, is more efficient is still under investigation, and there is little agreement on the interpretation of the results. Our researches focused on the first steps of the reactions, namely the creation of radicals that may attack aromatic or heteroaromatic molecules and the study of the final products with the aim of understanding which intermediates are formed and how they are oxidised.
