Abstract: Tests derived from catalytic science have been applied to the characterization of anatase products to be included in photocatalytic cements. Extensive adsorption of aromatics, besides mineralization, occurs in high surface area anatase, giving a large contribution to their abatement. Cracking of aromatics to carbonaceous deposits occurs under irradiation on the acid sites of anatase, but not on photocatalytic cements, due to their basic nature.
