Abstract: Commercial available TiO2 produced in Chemical Factory Police S. A. was modified by doping Ag by photodeposition from AgNO3 solution. Obtained amount of deposited Ag on TiO2 in this method was in the range of 0.11 to 0.98 mass %. Deposition of Ag on TiO2 resulted in the formation of higher amount of OH radicals on the photocatalyst surface during irradiation with UV light. EPR measurements have shown the presence of the reduced form of titanate, Ti3+ and Ag2+ in Ag-TiO2 samples, the highest amount of Ag2+ was in the sample having the lowest content of Ag (0.11 mass %). The original TiO2 and prepared Ag-TiO2 samples have been tested for decomposition of phenol and Reactive Black in the water solution under both, UV and artificial solar light radiation. Photocatalytic activity of Ag-TiO2 samples towards Reactive Black decomposition was higher than that of TiO2, but in case of phenol decomposition was comparable. High adsorption of Reactive Black on Ag modified TiO2 photocatalysts, which was higher than on TiO2, could enhance the photocatalytic activity of these samples. Modification of TiO2 by Ag improved decantability of the titania slurry solution after photocatalytic process. The solution with 1 % slurry of TiO2-Ag was sprayed on the surface of concrete. For concrete impregnated with TiO2-Ag slurry the both, fungicidal and self-cleaning effect for dyes has been observed.
