Abstract:
This paper presents a recently started research project in which the influence from the exposure conditions on durability of concrete will be described and modelled. The overall objective of the research project is to model and quantify the influence from the exposure conditions on the durability of reinforced concrete structures. The output of the research will be general models, which describe the “environmental load” acting on concrete structures, applicable in available service life models.
The paper gives a state-of-the-art review and a presentation of the research project. In the state-of-the art review it is shown on the significance of the exposure conditions and how they can be quantified and modelled. The consequences on predictions of service life are also shown. Finally the work that will be made in the research project is briefly presented and suggestions of complementary studies are given.
