Abstract: Regarding concrete performance, especially of early ages and of durability, it is mainly determined and dominated by the reaction of cement. From this reason, numerical approaches to simulate cement hydration and concrete performance become topics of growing interest. In the case of Japan, shorter life of concrete structures which were built in 70’s and 80’s invoke social concern. In this paper, kinetic and phase composition model of Portland cement is developed based on experimental results, whose data are degree of hydration of each cement minerals and the amount of hydrates of Portland cements with different water to cement ratio and curing temperature determined by the powder X-ray/Rietvelt analysis, and former simple kinetic equation originally developed by Prof. Tomosawa in 1974. And using this model, temperature history of concrete member was simulated and compared with experimental results as a kind of validation.
