Abstract: In this contribution focus is on the inter-particle moisture movement during cement hydration. Since concrete is an inhomogeneous material, pressure differences in the pore water pressure develop during hydration of cement. These pressure differences drives the moisture movement in the hardening cement paste, what influences a lot of properties of the concrete. The moisture movement is solved by a finite element approach and as first result, the influence of moisture movement during cement hydration on the moisture content, degree of saturation and degree of hydration will be presented.
