Abstract: The aim of this work is, in one hand to show how the chloride diffusion coefficient can be calculated by using only the electrical current recorded during a migration test. The dosage procedure which is a heavy procedure and mainly time consuming, is avoided. In another hand we have shown that the using of geometrical approach is insufficient to correctly describe the ionic transfer in cement based materials. In fact, we have shown that electrical current calculated by using Nernst Planck equation evolve faster than the measured currents during a migration test carried out with 3 cement mortars.
The difference between the simulated current and the measured one, is traduced the occurring of the electrical double layer at the interface between the pore solution and the pores wall.
