Abstract: Ultrasonic with automated 2D scanning measurement and 3-D reconstruction calculation is a powerful tool for imaging the internal structure of prestressed concrete elements. Important testing tasks are:
- Controlling the grouting conditions of tendon ducts
- Localising rebars and tendon ducts under difficult site conditions, when the penetration depth of Impulse Radar is not sufficient enough.
The state of the art will be summarized including modelling the elastic wave propagation
with Elastodynamic Finite Integration Technique (EFIT). Results at test specimens are
summarized in order to analyse the elastic wave propagation in multi layer systems (concrete / grouting mortar / strands) and the different criteria of indicating grouting faults.
The localisation of crossbeams in prestressed girder bridges is an important task, when the construction plans have to be verified. Examples of tendon duct localizations in a crossbeam are presented.
