Abstract: It is well-known that grouting performance of prestressing tendons influences durability of prestressed concrete structures. Impact-echo NDT is one of measures to examine grouting performance. Authors developed a method to examine the grouting performance of prestressing wires and rods by using impact-echo NDT. It is found that, even by hammering on the concrete surface, a stable propagation waveform could be obtained by installing steel plate on concrete surface and using adequate measurement system. And unique propagation waveforms could be observed in case of insufficient grouting. The paper shows details of the method and results of measurements applied it to existing prestressed concrete bridges.
