Abstract: Shahid Rajaee Slipway is a marine structure which is used for the maintenance and repair of vessels. This 20-year old structure is located on the northern coast of Persian Gulf and consists of two main structures: steel carriage, which is used for carrying vessels from the sea to the land, and RC body of slipway which plays the role of support for the carriage and consists of 80 cast-in-place piles, longitudinal and transverse beams, and slabs. Visual inspection of the structure shows that the carriage has corroded and the RC body of the slipway has extensively cracked and need an immediate attention. The aim of this paper is: to evaluate the damage extent in the RC body of the slipway, to recognise the cause of the damage, to check the stability of the structure and finally to present an appropriate method for retrofitting of this structure. A number of tests were performed to evaluate the mechanical and chemical properties of concrete and the results were studied. Using a computer model the stability of the structure was checked and a repair strategy, mainly based on the replacement of damaged concrete and rebars, was proposed.
