Abstract: In this paper the authors discuss the possibility of using core samples characterized by a "small" diameter (30-50 mm) for determination of the compressive strength of concrete. The results of an experimental research programme carried out in the "Leonardo da Vinci" school in the village of Villafranca in Lunigiana (MS, Italy) are shown and a comparison between the results obtained on large and small core samples are reported.
