Abstract: The Basilica Concattedrale di Trinitapoli (Foggia - Italia) is a massive building accomplished in the first years of the Nineteenth century. The edifice has a Latin-cross plan and three naves subdivided by pillars, that carry big architraves and barrel vaults. The central space is covered with a big dome. The construction is realized with some compounded technics as, for example, the use of stonework structures and metal ceilings. Since long the edifice shows a revealing cracking configuration of the walls, ceilings and dome. The insertion of iron tiets and encirclements has not to inhibited the structural damage. In view of another intervention they are realized some inspections and experimentations on site: a survey of the cracking configuration, numerical tests of solicitation on foundations and walls, extraction and analysis of masonry elements, application of extensometers and flat jacks.
These inspections detail the characteristics of the structure and static dysfunction, and consent to design the structural upgrading of the building.
