Abstract: This relation concerns the preliminary inspections in the al-Jami' al-Kabir Great Mosque in the old city of Sana’a, Republic of the Yemen, on behalf of the Social Fund for Development. The inspections, carried out from September 25th to October 1st 2005, aimed to a preliminary recognition of the state of conservation of the wooden floors and ceilings in the Mosque, in order to plan and yard the most suitable conservations intervention. The inspections had the following main purposes and development:
1. the first phase of the job concerned the execution of the photographic documentation. At the same time we acquired references regarding the history of the monument;
2. the second phase concerned the analysis of the flat cover; the detailed analysis of the concrete of the flat cover by five stratigraphic diggings and the analysis of the degradation of the structures and decorations.
