Abstract: Reinforced concrete structure ages very slowly in natural environment. Accelerated aging method is important and necessary in studying deterioration of structural behavior of concrete element. By employing accelerated-corrosion method to accelerate corrosion of the bars in concrete under artificial environment, experiments were performed to study the structural behavior of corroded reinforced concrete beams. The experiment results showed that the corrosion characteristics and behaviours of corroded bars, bearing capacity, ductility, and failure mode of beams are very different for reinforced concrete beams aged in artificial climate and that aged by galvanization method.
